आधा भरा गिलास

"क्या मैं.." अभी फोन पर किसी का नाम भी नहीं लिया था कि जवाब मिल गया, " सीट पर नहीं हैं"। पता नहीं क्यों, 'मार्च-एंड' में बाबू वर्ग, छोटे-मोटे लेखक और घोड़े बिदके-बिदके रहते हैं। शायद 'एनुअल क्लोज़िंग' पर काम का बोझ बढ़ जाता है। लेखक इसलिए बिदके होते हैं कि कलम ज़्यादा घिस गई, मेहनताना उतना नहीं मिला। हम क्यों बिदक रहे हैं? हमारा भी यह 'क्लीनज़िंग वीक' चल रहा है। सुबह-शाम और हर तीज-त्यौहार पर हम जो शुभ-कामनाओं की 'बल्क-पोस्टिंग' करते रहे और बदले में किसी ने एक स्माइली भी नहीं भेजी.. बस, उनकी लिस्ट बना रहे हैं। ..कब तक ऐसे लोगों को सहते रहें जो हमारे 'आधा-भरे' गिलास को हमेशा 'आधा-खाली' ही कहते हैं। हमारी छोटी रेखा के साथ अपनी बड़ी लाइन खीँच कर हमें छोटा बना जाते हैं। ऐसी नेगेटिविटी की वार्षिक सफाई भी आवश्यक है। मार्च में घोड़े क्यों बिदकते हैं - गूगल पर यह देखने का आपके पास समय है - हमे एक स्माइली भेजने का नहीं!.. एक झाड़ू आर्डर की थी। शायद आ गई!

Clearing the confusion!

It was not to correct grammatically if the Flying Express is coming ON or AT platform 13, but to add few words "on the tracks" (of platform) to clear the confusion; but they didn't bother.. rather boasted with pride:
- "We are concerned only with what we say, and not with what you understand!"
- "And what about those 99 frightened pax came down to tracks hearing the announcement, fearing train coming on the platform?"
- "And what about the one intelligent pax remained on the platform.. behave like him!"
Ok. Let's ask him too. Truly he said:
- "No, I was on the tracks; hearing announcement, came up the platform, and kept lying there.. but the train came on the tracks!"

मुआवज़ा!

..हमें ठीक से याद नहीं कि कब रिटायर हुए थे या वी.आर.एस. लिया था। जन्म की तारीख 29 फरवरी का साल भी ठीक याद नहीं कि 1952 था या 1956? ..नहीं-नहीं, अल्ज़ाइमर्स नहीं.. बस, किसी के ऐसे सवालों पर खांसी आ जाती है; फिर आगे जवाब मैडम दे देती हैं। हमें तो इतना याद है कि रिटायरमेंट के दो सालों तक हमें अपनी बालकनी में भी आने की मनाही थी। फोन पर भी 'नाईट ड्यूटी चल रही है' कि बात होती थी। दरअसल, मैडम को हमारे बारे में किसी का यह पूछना बिल्कुल गवारा नहीं था कि 'घर पड़े रहते हैं?' ..हम भी दरवाज़े की ओट से सामने वाले 70 वर्षीय पड़ोसी को लंच-बॉक्स थामे काम पर जाते देखते और ग्लानि से भर कर फिर पड़ जाते। कितना इतरा कर हम कहते थे कि रिटायरमेंट के बाद कुछ न भी कर सके तो अपना लिखने का हुनर तो है ही। ..सन सत्तर से लिखते आ रहे हैं। अब भी खुशवंत सिंह जी के कई पत्र रखे हुए हैं। किसी भी पोस्ट ऑफिस के बाहर बैठ गए तो खत लिखवाने वालों की लाइन लग जाएगी। हेड पोस्ट ऑफिस की तो बात ही क्या है। संचार-क्रांति ने ही हमें कहीं का नहीं छोड़ा। मोदी जी के पोर्टल पर मुआवज़े की मांग भी की हुई है।

Trip down memory lane..

Air India has had the privilege of flying Prime Ministers for several years; but, going down memory lane, the flight of the then PM Dr. Manmohan Singh to Bhutan in 2008, was a challenging one. AI operated two charter flights with A319 aircraft to Paro, the capital of Bhutan. The airport at Paro is among 20 most difficult airports of the world with runway only 100 feet wide, having no navigational aids available beyond Bagdogra then. Initially, Capt. Mehboob Bhat, the then GM (Operations), Northern Region, flew as an observer on board the Druk Air flight, the national carrier of Bhutan. That was followed by a recce flight and two training flights under simulated conditions before Dr. Manmohan Singh's flight was operated. पंखा

देर-सवेर भगवान सबकी सुनता है। आज हमारे पास अपना पंखा है। वो भी दिन थे, जब जयपुर ट्रांसफर के दौरान, मकान-मालिक के कूलर की "आवाज़" से ही सो जाते थे। एक बार उनका शुक्रिया क्या किया.. बिजली का बिल आधा-आधा करना पड़ गया!
