PQM4

As PNQ is Pune for us in airline, PQM4 stands for 'Professionally Qualified Match For' in matrimonial ads of newspapers, costing roughly rupees one thousand per line -- many might know the trend. It's two-way: either go through others' published ads -- choose and mail the boy's/girl's bio-data with brief family details in first instance; or get your ad published and wait for similar replies to proceed further. I attended a number of such mail for wider choice for my daughter -- replied only ten percent and have had only four or five personal meetings --  and we finally got one! Some amusing as well as irritating experiences are still in mind.. As we write in response to others' ads, courtesy says, others to write us same way in response to our ad. But, no, since you are girl's father -- many will call you to note down their mail-id to respond first! Some will even send you sms requiring same. And some will call straightway and ask girl's birth details or office address without an introduction. When I was little furious on it, they left commenting --  girl's wedding will not take place with such an attitude (and they are still bachelors)!.. Somewhere in my mind, I was carrying a wish, my daughter's surname be not changed after wedding. Soon I left it to the sweet will of both to decide. But still I used it as a 'tool' to know how the boy and his family would react letting them of girl's intention retaining her original surname after wedding. To many harsh replies, I ended the proposal then and there as this simple 'n casual question would reflect them in totality! Interestingly, a boy said: "I will tell you asking my mom!" And in one of our personal meetings, a family came in their official ambassador with 'beacons on' when I requested hotel personnel to take care of the VIP (next to some minister)!!
